Custom Fan Controller
The four 300gb drives are in a custom stainless steel enclosure with the orange fan. (see 1st image above)
The enclosure is almost always cool to the touch due to the excellent air flow in along with the high thermal transfer from the drives to the surrounding metal.
The fan guards on the back of the case (see 3rd image above) were uselessly removed to increase airflow. NOTE: This is only useful when the case is closed, which it is not.
